Please provide a short description of the state-of-the-art and/or current trends in the field? How does the result fit into it?
The various signal transmission chain – with the complete spreading of digital technology – in almost all cases contain AD and DA converters, where the input analogue signals are transformed to digital then at the end of the signal transmission chain the digital signals are transformed back to analogue. The solution relates to an AD transformer the sample-taking procedure and assembly from circuit elements of which differs from the usual. The solution is suitable for realising a very precise, noise-free low-pass filter during AD transformation.

2

What is the problem/need/knowledge gap that the research result is responding to?  How was it addressed before?
A weak element in a signal transmission system is the AD transformer, because the low-pass filter function leaks at certain frequencies and so the signal transmission becomes distorted. This has significance in sound transmission and high-precision measurement, where it results in errors.

According to the creator of the solution this fault could not be overcome with the solutions known of to date.

3

What is the potential for further research?
At the present moment the circuit realising the new sampling procedure conceived for the digitisation of analogue signals is built from discrete elements. During the further development of the design its realisation in an IC will take place. As this would simplify manufacture and reduce costs significantly.

4

What is the proposed method of IPR-protection? (patent, license, trademark etc.)
As the solution involves a sampling and transformation solution that may be viewed as new, a procedure patent application may be submitted and a patent application may also be submitted relating to the arrangement of the circuit realising the transformation principle.

In the case that the circuit is realised in the form of an IC, topographic protection may also be applied for.

A trademark application may also be submitted in connection with the device realising the principle.

5

What are the steps that need to be taken in order to secure the IPR-protection? What is the cost of IPR-protection?
As a first step a patent application relating to the transformation process should be submitted, the cost of which is approx. HUF 300,000. Following this, after finding the most suitable connection arrangement, it may be submitted either in the form of a patent or utility model application. The cost of this step is approx. HUF 300,000.

There will be a reason to submit a trademark application at the moment the solution is realised in one or more products. The cost of this is approx. HUF 240,000.

6

What is you overall assessment of the scientific maturity of the research result?
The solution may result in significant advances in the field of analogue-digital signal transmission, both in the fields of sound technology and high-precision measurement.
