PART B: VALORISATION PLAN

1 Please provide a short description of the state-of-the-art and/or current trends in the field? How does the result fit into it?


Functionally, after finishing the induction motor starting stage, the electromechanical system for coupling-decoupling automatically the brushes, by its components and by a specific kinematics, shortcircuits the slip rings and then the sequence of lifting the brushes from the rings takes place. After stopping the motors, with a view to preparing them for a new start, the electromechanical system for coupling-decoupling automatically the brushes moves down the brushes on the slip rings, and after that they are no more shortcircuited. The two functions described above are executed by a logistics in correlation with the starting rheostat. Every manufacturer of induction machines with slip rings uses an electromechanical system for coupling-decoupling automatically the brushes. Many systems of this type are known, one of them being presented in the patent US 5,285,125 – 8 February 1994.

 

 

 

 

2 What is the problem/need/knowledge gap that the research result is responding to?  How was it addressed before?
The problem of developing the manual and electromechanical systems for coupling-decoupling automatically the brushes and shortcircuiting the slip rings was approached since the 80s, at SC Electroputere SA, Electrical Rotating Machines division. The product designed by the Designing Department of the factory did not meet technically, qualitatively, also as regards the reliability and cost price the conditions imposed by foreign customers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

3 What is the potential for further research?

The product which was executed in 6 types and sizes is technically and technologically improved. The potential for the future development is represented by its adaptation to other types and sizes of electric motors.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4 What is the proposed method of IPR-protection? (patent, license, trademark etc.)


The method proposed for protecting the intellectual property rights is the patent.

 

 

5 What are the steps that need to be taken in order to secure the IPR-protection? What is the cost of IPR-protection?


The steps that need to be taken for ensuring the intellectual property rights are:

1. Preparation of the technical documentation of the invention and drawing up of the type-forms of the Patent application 800 EUR

2. Record the Patent application at OSIM 30 EUR

3. Publishing                                                 50 EUR

4. Examination                                           500 EUR

5. Patent issuing                                       100 EUR

6. Maintaining in force the patent        6420 EUR

Total                         7900 EUR

 

6 What is you overall assessment of the scientific maturity of the research result?


Technically and scientifically, the research result fulfils the requirements of the manufacturer of induction machines with slip rings. The electromechanical system for coupling-decoupling automatically the brushes offers to the economic agents in the field a special technical solution, achieved in a modular structure, easy to mount on electric motors in any operation position of them, also high reliability. The system was improved as regards the efficiency of the mechanisms composing it, the power necessary to the electric driving actuator being of only 90 W, as compared to 0.55 kW – 1.1 kW for the known systems. The system is provided with mechanical torque limiter, for protection against mechanical overloads.

The overall assessment of the scientific maturity of the research result is 4.5 for a scale from 1 to 5.
