|1||Please provide a short description of the state-of-the-art and/or current trends in the field? How does the result fit into it?|
|There are about 100.000 persons in Hungary who is affected by mental handicap. It is about 1% of the total population. In Hungary there is a gap, because there is no such product can be found on the market. It is legally required to use such kind of application, but has lack of financial support to introduce it.
At international level there are 10-50 million people affected. On the international market there are similar products, but they have no database access and analysis possibility. According to the 2009 year Report of WHO there are needs to a database and analysis.
As compared to known techniques, with the use of computer technology background the solution created new interactive test modules, with the help of which the tests can be performed more easily, more quickly and more accurately, and they are also suitable for developing cognitive abilities. Using the first module – which can be regarded as an IQ test – the solution is also suitable for adjusting the level of the tests and tasks used during the examination to the individual abilities of the given person. |2||What is the problem/need/knowledge gap that the research result is responding to? How was it addressed before?|
|The solution connects two different problems. One is measuring and re-measuring intelligence level according to EU directive. There are conventional, paper-based solutions for it, but this research produces a digital solution for it.
It also gives a solution for re-calibration of the intelligence level measuring system.
It is very important to maintain the everyday skills for moderate and severe handicapped. The mild handicapped can be developed with it.
There are games where it is important that the person is able to catch it, but there are some games with advantage of using a computer, such as spatial matching.
In the past there were no solutions or only in analog manner. There is no database in Hungary.
It must be emphasised that it was difficult to update these tests, so recently it may have occurred that the result of a test did not indicate the cognitive abilities of the examined persons with appropriate accuracy. The solution intends to improve this in such a way that with the use of computer assisted tools it creates novel ability developing modules used on the computer with the help of which the cognitive ability of the examined persons can be assessed more efficiently and more accurately.
|3||What is the potential for further research?|
|Database development, development of graphical interface, 3D imagery, and mathematical verification of the model.
A future research in the database can be the basis of new ideas: during further development of the solution an independent statistical database needs to be set up, and then, on the basis of the test results accumulated in it, after appropriate evaluation a method should be elaborated for recalibrating “ordinary tests” in a simple, quick and reliable way.
|4||What is the proposed method of IPR-protection? (patent, license, trademark etc.)|
|It has registered already by the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office as SIPP. A trademark can be introduced for the method, name, logo, domain. The computer software has intellectual property rights.
As there is already a computer assisted evaluation method in the field of the solution, it should be examined to make sure that it does not infringe patent rights of third persons, to determine similarities and differences. If the independent solution has a novel element, which is not clearly software-based, then it is possible to prepare and submit a patent application. A trademark application may also be included in the service package.
|5||What are the steps that need to be taken in order to secure the IPR-protection? What is the cost of IPR-protection?|

If the independent solution has a novel element, which is not clearly software-based, then it is possible to prepare and submit a patent application. A trademark application may also be included in the service package.
The cost of submitting a trademark application is HUF 240,000. (SIPP HUF 5,000)
The rights may be extended within the prescribed deadline.
