SECTION I: ESTIMATION OF COSTS

1 Taking into account the rest of the cost evaluation please provide an overall estimation of the total costs for full deployment/production of the R & D result.
… in terms of IPR protection
No costs associated to IPR-protection are required
…in terms of product development
The product is already developed and ready to use.
…in terms of mass production
Not applicable
… in terms of marketing
  • A website
  • Advertising in scientific journals and conferences
  • Publications
  • Targeted communication in order to address all potential users (universities, research organizations-institutes)

The total cost for marketing can be estimated to ≈70.000 euros during the first couple of years -that the product will enter the market-, and to a fixed 20.000 euros per year, afterwards.

2 Based on the above assessment as well as the marketing information please provide the correct estimation of the price for R&D product in correlation with costs

SECTION 2: QUALITATIVE FACTORS

3 Dimension of identified target groups
The target market of the R&D result is the total number of universities, research laboratories and organizations that are activated in the fields of Engineering Seismology, Earthquake Engineering, Soil Dynamics and Seismology, and they can secure the necessary funding for the utilization of the test site (travel expenditures, EUROSEIS site use expenditures etc.).
4 Evaluation of financial Risks for R&D result
Financial risks are only related to the marketing costs, as the product is already developed and there is no need for extra capital for its full deployment.

SECTION 3: IDENTIFICATION OF FINANCING SOURCES

After evaluating all the above mentioned criteria, please tick the best financing source for the achievement of R&D result (i.e. own capitals, banking credits, venture capital, business angels, etc)

Funding can be only associated to the improvement/substitution of the current equipment and to marketing expenses. Additionally, research funds could improve the scientific experience of the research team in the performance of combined geophysical, geotechnical, seismological and structural surveys.

1. European Funding

Define relevance of the product with the following potential funding sources and comment

1.  Directorate General XII for Research, Science & Technology

2. FP7 Cooperation

2. National Funding
1. General Secretariat of Research and Technology (GSRT)

3. Private funding
1. Venture capital
4. Other
1  Funding from international organizations for joined research on the fields of soil dynamics and geotechnical engineering

SECTION 4: FINAL EVALUATION

It is requested a final evaluation considering the funding opportunities you believe most suitable for the exploitation of the R&D result, considering the possibility of the creation of a spin-off, further research, in particular, a cost/benefit analysis and a financial projection for the R&D result, type of collaboration identified (i.e. Licensing Agreement, Technical Cooperation, Joint Venture, Manufacturing Agreement, Commercial Agreement with Technical Assistance, Creation of a spin-off, Joint further development)…
EUROSEIS is a ready to use large multipurpose physical laboratory array established in order to study, model, simulate and predict site effects, strong ground motion, seismic hazard evaluation and soil-foundation-structure interaction effects. It is the only known large scale test-site that provides the facilities to perform combined geophysical, geotechnical, seismological and structural surveys. It is addressed to a very small group of users and requires a targeted marketing strategy; however, it is a product with limited financial risks that has great potential of acquiring immediate revenues.
