Validation is primarily a process of comparison of the model and its behaviour with the real system and its evolution.

The model validation process includes three stages:
• building a model with high degree of validity;
• validation of model assumptions;
• comparing the sizes of input / output model with the sizes of the real system.


Evaluating a house for wind loads involves careful examination of the building components from the ground, up. This paper presented a method to examine the wind loads on a typical house during hurricanes using a program with finite elements.


The experimental model for the simulation was built in CAD program after the dimension of a real house. In simulation we put the following initial condition:

- wind speed of 210 km/h;

- air temperature of 200C;

- ambient pressure.

The time for testing and probing is estimated at 30 working days.

The costs of research and results validation are estimated at Euro 1400. Costs for testing and probing of the mathematical model are estimated to be 1200 Euro.

The research team has the available human resources for research development on “The finite element simulation of the hurricane on a typical house”. Experts required to complete the team are specialised in civil engineering and hurricanes.The research is the result of experimentation conducted by a team of experts who want to further optimize these results.

In this respect, the team of experts is available for technical advice, so that potential partners can start practical implementation of new software product.

The existence within the organization of facilities with specialized software that is a solid base for design, testing and probing.

Technical issues to be addressed for practical implementation of research:
- Developing a model of house type under the action of strong winds;
- Setting up initial conditions: wind speed of 210 km/h, air temperature of 200C, ambient pressure;
- Finite elements simulation.


What additional technical resources are needed for the production of this new product?Ce resurse tehnice suplimentare sunt necesare pentru fabricarea acestui nou produs?
Special equipment for data collection (sensors). For installing them further research is needed to be done by specialized companies in this field.

The research theme, it was a part of a large subject of study, which attracts the knowledge from different fields (mechanics, construction, computer science, technical graphics, computer aided design). The force of hurricanes is illustrated by an ascendant scale with five values. The weakest hurricanes are of one category and do not produce material damage.


The speed of wind into a hurricane of one category it is between 115 and 157 km/h, with a speed of 250 km/h ore more into a hurricane of five categories. The houses begun to be destroyed by the wind force which reaches speeds between 178 and 210 km/h.


The most violent five hurricanes of Atlantic Ocean were: Gilbert (1988, wind speed of 299 km/h), Mitch (1998, 287 km/h), Hugo (1989, 260 km/h), Andrew (1992, 250 km/h), Camille (1969, 320 km/h). During severe thunderstorms or hurricanes, homes may be damaged or destroyed by high winds. Debris flying through the air can break windows and doors, allowing high winds inside the home. In extreme wind storms, the force of the wind alone can cause weak places in houses to fail.


Items susceptible to wind around the house include air conditioners, storage sheds, fences, trees, and backyard items like lawn furniture, portable spas, and trampolines. Items susceptible to wind on the house include awnings, gutters, shutters, patio covers, television antennas, chimneys, siding and windows.


Certain building configurations are more likely to sustain wind damage. In general, the higher the building, the more it is exposed to the wind and greater its potential for damage.

     After the development and simulation of experimental model, setting up of  all suppliers of materials, components and sub-assemblies required to perform the model as well as delivery terms, then is going to implement it in practice, namely its promotion on domestic and international markets.

To implement the evaluated model in practice, the following are required:
- Identifying the methods of experimentation;

What is you overall assessment of the technical feasibility of the research result?Care este evaluarea generală a fezabilităţii tehnice pentru rezultatul CD?
Technical parameters required to the new model of house type that is subject to strong winds:- wind speed of 210 km/h;

- air temperature of 200C;

- ambient pressure.


Validation of the model is not problematic; there are specialized companies for this purpose.

The model is of interest as regards its implementation in practice, namely its promotion on domestic and international markets.
