… in terms of IPR protection
Registration in the voluntary registry of works ensures copyright declaration for the creator. It costs HUF 8,000 (30 EUR).

Before submitting US application practically an expert opinion should be requested from an attorney operating in the given country. The costs of submitting the application are between USD 1,600-2,400 (1100-1700 EUR).

The cost of submitting a trademark application is HUF 240,000 (900 EUR).

…in terms of product development
A properly configured computer is necessary (11500 EUR). A software designer and a ½ tester will work on it a year (600.000 HUF/month + 180.000 HUF/month insurances 36000 EUR/year).
…in terms of mass production
The client part of the software requires no special support, it is a simple boxed software. The sever part should be varied according to the running surround so it is useful to sell it with hardware. a) ez

The unit is one standard PC with 4 GPUs and one hardware and one software expert will work one week to install it (3.800 EUR hardware, 1000 EUR personnel).

A minimum of four such units can be connected to improve the capacity. It can serve 5-8 users.  For larger capacity a cray is much more effective.

The competitor in capacity/price is a 4-5000 EUR worth hardware and 3000 EUR for software.

… in terms of marketing
1/ 2 person will  work on it (24000 EUR personnel/year). They want to participate on target groups conferences and show the prototype. A webpage and some written documents will be generated.

3 Dimension of identified target groups
The similar service of Amazon can be reached for 2 USD/hour/GPU (Amazon Elastic Cloud Computing). Large companies use special units, but there are many small companies who can be the potential buyers for this GPU based cloud computing.


4 Evaluation of financial Risks for R&D result
Cray, or special supercomputer prices will no go down. Potential competitors like Amazon can decrease prices because of the high volume they can sell. Cloud computing can be also competitor, but it may be a fashion too, but it can be a potential way to sell this service too.

It is requested a final evaluation considering the funding opportunities you believe most suitable for the exploitation of the R&D result, considering the possibility of the creation of a spin-off, further research, in particular, a cost/benefit analysis and a financial projection for the R&D result, type of collaboration identified (i.e. Licensing Agreement, Technical Cooperation, Joint Venture, Manufacturing Agreement, Commercial Agreement with Technical Assistance, Creation of a spin-off, Joint further development)…

It is a very interesting project fitting into the cloud computing trend, with a cost effective solution for small or modest users. Development possibilities are linking together more servers to be seem a larger capacity server. For the client to provide a large capacity virtual machine that is physically more servers linked together.

The high competition generates a high risk for the project. Large competitors with low price service can generate price competition.

For the project , and for the  owner the best solution would be to sell the idea for a investor. In this case this idea could be a base for a cloud computing service.
