Please provide a short description of the state-of-the-art and/or current trends in the field? How does the result fit into it?
A humanoid robot is an autonomous robot, because it can adapt to changes in its environment or itself and continue to reach its goal. This is the main difference between humanoid and other kinds of robots. Some of the capacities of a humanoid robot may include, among others:

  • self-maintenance (i.e. recharging itself)
  • autonomous learning (learn or gain new capabilities without outside assistance, adjust strategies based on the surroundings and adapt to new situations)
  • avoiding harmful situations to people, property, and itself
  • safe interacting with human beings and the environment

The present model is able to perform certain motions well. I.e. sitting cross legged (tailor seat) or folding its arms.

What is the problem/need/knowledge gap that the research result is responding to?  How was it addressed before?
The project owner had a special interest about humanoid robots and made studies and several experiments to accomplish the human-like motion of a machine.

What is the potential for further research?
The inventor is not satisfied completely with the present state of art of his project, so he intends to improve the drives and the technology as well.

What is the proposed method of IPR-protection? (patent, license, trademark etc.)
Trademark and a utility model application

What are the steps that need to be taken in order to secure the IPR-protection? What is the cost of IPR-protection?
The first is a utility model application in Hungary.

The Model Utility application and procedure fee is € 2-400 depending from the number of claims.

The maintenance fee is approx € 100 per year

In case of further market possibilities the cost of utility model application depends from particular countries.

What is you overall assessment of the scientific maturity of the research result?
Presently it seems to me rather a hobby-like activity of a talented person than a science or business oriented research. In spite of this personal opinion some of the solutions are very promising ones although the entire project is still in implementation phase.
