The validation process  of the numerical simulation model of molding process by extrusion of sintered pre-shapes made of metal powders has two features:

 

• producing a model representing the real system behavior to the extent that it can substitute it;
• achieve an acceptable level of reliability of the model.

Validation is primarily a comparison process of  the  model and its behavior to the real system  and its evolution. Calibration is an iterative process of comparing the model with the real system, by making adjustments or major changes to the model, and comparing the revised model with reality.

Validation process of a model includes three stages:
• building a model with high degree of validity;
• validation of model assumptions;
• comparing the sizes of input / output model with the real system.

The first two stages comply with the input data modeling stage, while the third stage involves comparing the input / output sizes of model with the ones of the real system by using statistical formulas.

The time for testing, probing and homologation is expected to be about 60 working days.

The costs of research and results’ validation are estimated at 3,500 Euro.  The costs for testing, probing homologation of numerical model are estimated to be 1,000 Euro.

The research team of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Craiova has a long time experience in both research and teaching activities in terms of:
- Innovation and support in numerical modeling of technological processes;
- Graphical modeling and application of advanced technologies in molding by extrusion of sintered pre-shapes;
- Rationalization, modernization and mechanical & technological design related to powder metallurgy.

The existence within the organization of equipment and software is a sound basis for design, testing and probing stages.

Technical issues to be addressed for practical implementation of research:
- Producing a numerical simulation of molding  processes by extrusion of sintered pre-shapes made of metal powders to be used in industrial purposes;
- Optimization of technological parameters and computer-aided design of  tools;
The model developed is comprising the general equation of trajectories for material particles flow within the deformation area, the variation of motion speed, the basic elastic-plastic equations for large deformations.

In literature there are certain models that are more or less closer to the actual material flow. The model taken into account the material flow considered the material particles moving in curved paths after the outbreak strain, close to the shape of co sinusoid branch.

Choosing an appropriate software product and the accurate  & precise process modeling enable performing  a correct simulation whereby the errors are minimal.

After creating and testing the experimental model, setting-up all suppliers of materials, components and sub-assemblies required achieving the numerical model to simulate the molding process by extrusion of sintered products, as well as delivery terms, can proceed to implementation in production, namely the promotion of product on domestic and international market.

To implement the numerical model evaluated in practice, are necessary:
- Identification of molding technology;
- PC computer, printer, photocopier, graphic stations.

- Personnel for  advertising, publicity  and expertise activities.

What is you overall assessment of the technical feasibility of the research result?

Care este evaluarea generală a fezabilităţii tehnice pentru rezultatul CD?

Modeling of molding by extrusion by help of MEF, under simplifying the pre-shape and reducing it to the early phase of the process, enables  precise calculation of the value of minimum pressure required for extrusion;  drawing the stress iso-values ​​within the material to be deformed material at different time steps, respectively interpretation of material in the pre-shape. This aspect, associated with deformations image, can be a key factor in determining the shape and size of pre-shape designed to be under deformation.

The results of simulation are used to represent non-uniformity of deformation obtained by using a computer program for molding by extrusion a complex profile, matching different deformation degrees.

The model is of interest for it practical implementation, namely its promotion on domestic and international market.
