SECTION 3: FINAL EVALUATION

It is requested a final evaluation considering the funding opportunities you believe most suitable for the exploitation of the R&D result, considering the possibility of the creation of a spin-off, further research, in particular, a cost/benefit analysis and a financial projection for the R&D result, type of collaboration identified (i.e. Licensing Agreement, Technical Cooperation, Joint Venture, Manufacturing Agreement, Commercial Agreement with Technical Assistance, Creation of a spin-off, Joint further development)…
It is a very promising innovative project. Its originality and its market potential are good, the owners developed well within the frame of their financial resources and personal capacities. Their plan about the exploitation of the project is realistic and they have a strong commitment to deal with it as their future business. The European award of the project on the competition of young scientists is a good “trademark” and has a high value on the market promotion. The sales strategy is deliberate and realistic. The next step in development is to improve the formation and design of the product to achieve a more spectacular screen. After this improvement it is wise to obtain some IPR. The proposed option is Special Intellectual Property Protection (SIPP) and a trademark.

The most difficult part is to enter to the market. It has to be fast enough to achieve a good position on worldwide sales. To co-operate with a strong partner – practically a software company – would be the best strategy to achieve this. They would contribute in the further development and finance the marketing activities. A critical factor is the time. This is the reason why I recommend applying for a national fund at the same time to finance the intermediate steps and with the more advanced stage of the project to get a better position for negotiating with the partner.
