In the case of the grapevine, it has been reported that some categories of fungal endophytes may potentially provide control of important
diseases. So they represent a good ‘material’ to develop new strategies and solutions for disease management in organic agriculture. Moreover, low-molecular weight fungal metabolites (as diketopiperazines, DKPs) represent an interesting group of chemicals, easy to synthesize, useful also for conventional agriculture.
So challenge of this proposal is to set up systems useful for field experimental application of beneficial endophytes and/or their metabolites.
