Technical feasibility

SECTION I: Testing

1 Has the R & D result been tested?
YES X
NO

The following question is replied according to the reply in question 1

If yes

1a In what mode has the result been tested?•              Prototype

•              Pilot Application

•              Alpha/BETA testing

 Prototype and Pilot application
1b. Please describe and discuss the testing results
U.Pro.Me. (User Profile Mechanism) has been tested successfully in many pilot test sites taken place in Italy, Germany, Greece, Bulgaria and Romania (about 80 users).  Minor bugs were found, reported and fixed.

If no:

1c Describe what type of testing does the R&D result need?
Detailed comment
1d. What is the time needed for testing?

1e. What is the cost needed for testing?

SECTION 2: Current Stage of Development

2a To what extent does the development team have technical resources for supporting the production of a new product? (Researchers, human resources, hardware, etc. )
The development team consists of 5 s/w developers and a team manager and has the technical resources, infrastructure and know-how for productions.
2b What are the technical issues that need to be tackled for full deployment, if needed?
Additional work:

  • Improve sync techniques
  • Take into consideration the timestamp of the files
    • Avoid writing old files over newer ones
    • Problem: Devices have different system times with each other.

Enhancements:

Provide the external Profile Editor application as a web application to service providers. It is currently provided as Java standalone application. Service providers have to download and install it on their machine, in order to create parameters, which are related to their services.

2c What additional technical resources are needed for the production of this new product?
To be investigated during the development of section 2b.
2d Overall assessment of the current stage of technical development.
Detailed commentOverall assessment can be 60-70% of the final product completeness.

SECTION 3: Deployment

3a Define the demands for large scale production in terms of
  • Materials
PCSmart phones
  • technologies, tools, machineries
Mobile SDKJava SDK
  • Staff effort
6 – 12 months of 6 people

SECTION 4: Overall Assessment

1 What is you overall assessment of the technical feasibility of the research result?
The final result has been already proven to be feasible, as the prototype has been successfully tested by over 80 users.

KEYWORDS QUANTITATIVE ASSESSMENT (0-5).

Please put X as appropriate. 1 2 3 4 5
Adequacy of testing activity undertaken so far       X
Adequacy and availability of technical resources of the development team     X
Current development stage     X
Overall technical feasibility         X
