The PRIME project aims at building a framework to realize a digital preservation of highly-interactive multimedia works (such as large live-electronics compositions or pieces of installations). The framework will allow both the preservation and archival of gestural and expressive information (as well as other more conventional multimedia data), and the “embodied rendering” of such events. To achieve this goal, the participating institutions will contribute by (i) providing large amounts of musical material to be used as test-bed, (ii) working on the analysis of the related multimedia data, and (iii) addressing all the related cognitive musicological aspects.
