In this research are presented the esperimental measurement  and the theoretical studies concernting the fields of the spatial deformation and the stresses of a spatial structure for a petroleum coke plant as consequences of the variations of the vertical seismic loadings. These fields are calculated using the finite element method.

 

The numerical result obtained from this study are usually used in the regineering practice to optimal design the spatial structure of petroleum coke plant or to predict and verify the affective stress of the structura. These methods permit a detailed study of fields with highly accuracy and for this reason are useful tool in the system designing.

The time duration for testing, probing  and homologation is expected within 30 working days.

Research costs are estimated at Euro 2200. Costs related to testing, probing and homologation of functional model are estimated to be 1100 Euro.

The University of Craiova, a higher education institution with a specific structure of education, has managerial experience in performing scientific research, both fundamental and applied research in all areas, as well as advice and expertise.R & D team has the human resources for “Seismic analysis of the petro-chemistry petroleum coke plant by using the FEM”. The research result is the result of research and experimentation conducted by a team of experts who want to further optimize these results.
In this respect, the team of experts is available for technical advice, so that potential partners can begin assimilating these results.

  Implementation of research results in designing a petroleum coke plant involves the development of following stages:
- Development of design concept and requirements;
- Prototype design;
- Prototyping and testing
- Experiments

What additional technical resources are needed for the production of this new product?Ce resurse tehnice suplimentare sunt necesare pentru fabricarea acestui nou produs?
The spatial model of plant is made with aid of the SolidWorks 2007 software starting a the original execution drawings of the installation.

 

The constructive geometry of plant is complex and the sizes are big  (28 x 6 x 6 m3).

 

To this aim, there are conditions required, such as seismic loads, reliability. To fulfill these conditions further research is needed to be conducted by companies specialized in the field.

To provide a high coefficient of security in exploitation, the activity of design engineering of a spatial metal structure for a petroleum coke plant must take into consideration the important fields of deformations and stresses resulting as consequence of the seismic loadings.

 

This research work presents in synthesis the systematic theoretical study through numerical simulation concerning the distributions of the deformations and stresses fields as consequence of the vertical seismic loadings applied to a petroleum coke plant.

 

The plant subject to study is in exploiting from 1996, in a continuous regime work, on the petro-chemistry platform of oil distillery on the Onesti, Romania. This plant has a production of 385 tones petroleum coke in 48 hours and in the constructive solution presented there is an ensemble with four identical section which work alternatively in cycles by 48 hours.

 

Seismic analysis of the petroleum coke plant is made with the computer modeling technique that offers the optimum solutions in the seismic design.

The analysis with the FEM is made using the Cosmos Work 2007 software. We take info consoderation the big building limits of the petroleum coke plant to keep the height accurate of numerical simulation, the results are presented on every important component of installation.

Human resource requirements estimated for manufacturing the new model of equipment will be:
- Staff to survey the market,
- Staff for investment,
- Staff for training the operators and
- Staff for activities of advertising, publicity and expertise.

What is you overall assessment of the technical feasibility of the research result?Care este evaluarea generală a fezabilităţii tehnice pentru rezultatul CD?
The analysis with the Finite Element Method provides the spatial fieldsof deformations and stresses with high accuracy in optimum time.

 

The maximal value of the resultant deformation are equel with Urez = 25,35 mm. The rezultant of stress on joint between the cylindrical body and the taper bottom have a maximum value equal with σrez ≤ 76,63 daN/mm2. The maximum effective values of stress are under admissble limit σadm/100000 cycles = 95 daN/mm2 coresponding to values give by STAS 2883/3-88 for alloy steel 16Mo5b which are used to build the plant structure.

 

The numerical results obtained in this study are commonly used in engineering practice

-  to design optimal spatial structure of coking chambers of oil products
or

- to predict and verify the effective efforts of the structure. This method enables a detailed study on the areas with extremely high precision and therefore is a useful tool in the design system.

Technically, the project can be considered as one with minimum risk.
