PART B: VALORISATION PLAN

SECTION I: ESTIMATION OF COSTS

1

Taking into account the rest of the cost evaluation please provide an overall estimation of the total costs for full deployment/production of the R & D result.
… in terms of IPR protection
SEMoLA actually isn’t covered by IPRs.

…in terms of product development
SEMoLa needs some developments and corrections for presence of some software bugs, as:

- realization of help on line

- interface development

- algorithm development

for 1 year of manpower (3 professionals for 1 year).

…in terms of mass production
Not relevant

… in terms of marketing
The product requires a market analysis to identify real opportunities for the product/service and in which form (a software product or a service).

Based on the above assessment as well as the marketing information please provide the correct estimation of the price for R&D product in correlation with costs

SECTION 2: QUALITATIVE FACTORS

3

Dimension of identified target groups
Target groups are:

-          research centres and public bodies

-          professionals and researchers

4

Evaluation of financial Risks for R&D result
The financial risk of SEMoLa development is limited to about 110.000 € that stands for:

-          job of 3 professionals for 1 year to debug the software

-          a market analysis to define the characteristics of product/service.

SECTION 3: IDENTIFICATION OF FINANCING SOURCES

After evaluating all the above mentioned criteria, please tick the best financing source for the achievement of R&D result (i.e. own capitals, banking credits, venture capital, business angels, etc)

1. European Funding

Define relevance of the product with the following potential funding sources and comment

1. …FP7

2. National Funding

1. …Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional law on innovation

3. Private funding

4. Other

SECTION 3: FINAL EVALUATION

It is requested a final evaluation considering the funding opportunities you believe most suitable for the exploitation of the R&D result, considering the possibility of the creation of a spin-off, further research, in particular, a cost/benefit analysis and a financial projection for the R&D result, type of collaboration identified (i.e. Licensing Agreement, Technical Cooperation, Joint Venture, Manufacturing Agreement, Commercial Agreement with Technical Assistance, Creation of a spin-off, Joint further development)…
The complexity of SEMoLa is very high, and it could be interesting for complex systems modelization, but it should takes strategic decision whether to enter the market as a product or as a service.

The service could be ready very soon, while the product as software version ready to market needs some interventions, because it must be fitted some bugs.

It seems necessary also to take action on the product name (SEMoLa) that appears poorly suited to challenge the global market: the acronym has a meaning in Italian language, but not in other (English first), the sound of the word isn’t significant, the name (SEMoLa) doesn’t suggest the possibilities of the product/service.

Decision of evaluation (Please keep only the appropriate)

  • The R&D result needs minor revisions
