Please provide a short description of the state of the art and/or current trends in the field. How does the result fit into it?
SEMoLA (Simple, Easy to use, Modelling LAnguage) is a non-procedural meta-language to build simulation models for continuous/event driven, deterministic/stochastic systems.

It is integrated in a simulation framework that simplifies the tasks of model building; moreover, it provides facilities for sensitivity analysis, calibration, validation and others.

What is the problem/need/knowledge gap that the research result is responding to?  How was it addressed before?
The state of the art needs to use several softwares to achieve the same aims as SEMoLA. SEMoLA summarizes everything in a single software in order to better guarantee the data flow and to reduce the risk of mistakes.

What is the potential for further research?
To implement new tools in the software in terms of usability.

What is the proposed method of IPR-protection? (patent, license, trademark etc.)
No patent protection can be applied for.

A trademark can be adopted to identify SEMoLA.

What are the steps that need to be taken in order to secure the IPR-protection? What is the cost of IPR-protection?
No IPR protection can be taken. It is a software solution and the solution is already public.

What is your overall assessment of the scientific maturity of the research result?
It is defined and ready to be industrialized and commercialized.

It is particularly suitable to represent biological, ecological and agricultural systems, at different scale and complexity levels.
