The item is fully developed. The prototype has been tested in a microbiology laboratory. The prototype that has been tested is elaborated in the form of a pen; the company is capable of producing small series. The company has already produced 100 pieces. 

The pen has an antibacterial effect on water at 100%. The pen has to treat the water for about 20 seconds and in 10 minutes 100% of the bacteria are destroyed. The water disinfecteed in this way is suitable for treating wounds, for being used in the food and beverage industry, e.g. for wine (improves the wine quality for instance).

The pen has a high-quality silver electrode, of pure silver 999,99. The pen works on the grounds of electrolisys, with constant current between the silver electrode and the rustless body of the pen. The pen also has a magnit placed in such a wy that the megnetic field allways crosses the structure of the water molecules. One pen has a capacity to disinfect about 18 000 litres of water, which makes around 70-80 000 glasses of water. After the silver electrode and the battery are discharged, exhausted, they can easily be replaced with new ones, which gives the pen very long exploitation life. The pen weighs 43 grammes only.

The pen is placed in the glass of water for 20 sec. In 10 min the silver-magnetic water is completely disinfected. If used for health purposes, it would normally be drunk by person 15-20 min before taking pills, herbs or food, in order to avoid undesired reaction with the substances taken. 

It leads to 100% antibacterial impact on water, i.e. 100% of the microorganisms are destroyed as effect of this pen. It achieves its effect in the following parametres: in one glass of water (200 ml) it has to stay for 20 seconds, and after 7-8 to 10 minutes the full effect is in place – the water is completely disinfected in terms of microorganisms.

 

SECTION 2: Current Stage of Development

 

2a To what extent does the development team have technical resources for supporting the production of a new product[1]? (Researchers, human resources, hardware, etc. )
Note: Describe whether the R&D result is a result of collective effort and developers could be available for technical advice if the product is to be produced.
The  production of the pen does not require any special skills or specialized HR. 

Galvano Ltd disposes of the human resources needed for the production of the silver pen. The siver pen has been developed by the Galvano team only. The production of some of the pen’s elements is outsourced to companies and craftsmen, the assembly of the pen is made at Galvano. The assembly could in practice be done by handicapped people, so the production of the silver pen may also have a social aspect. The company disposes of the human resources needed for small-scale production only. It requires no special equipment, it is a matter of good organisation and elaboration.

 

 

2b What are the technical issues that need to be tackled for full deployment, if needed?

The production is very simple. It requires no big equipment, software, etc. 

It is highly recommendable to make further tests in a certified laboratory, as the ones made thus far, have been made in a non-certified microlaboratory.

2d Overall assessment of the current stage of technical development.

The prototype has been completely developed. The product is even being produced in small series, a number of pieces are already sold. No technical difficulties or problems related to the production of the product have been spotted so far.

 

SECTION 3: Deployment

3a Define the demands for large scale production in terms of
  • Materials
No problems have been observed with regards to the supply of materials. The pen is assembled from elements and materials that are standard and are easy to find on the market, they require no special supplies. In overall terms, there are no special requirements for the materials. 

 

 

 

  • technologies, tools, machineries
There are no requirements for special equipment. The equipment used is standard milling machines and lathes, and laser machines for “writing” the labels on the pen. 

 

 

 

  • Staff effort
The production process concerns the assemblance of the pen. The production of its parts and elements is outsourced. The assemblancecan be done by individuals without requirements for any special skills. It can be done as part time job that could even be entrusted to hadicap people, and in this sense it creates social impact. So in overall terms there is no need for permanent or specialised staff to be maintained by the company. 

The assemblance process is only a matter of good organisations of resources.

1 What is you overall assessment of the technical feasibility of the research result?
Note:
The product is completely developed and is ready for sales. It is currently produced in very small series. The product has potential for mass production, without implying for special difficulties with regards to equipment, human resources (skills or qualification). Yet, prior to any such undertakings, it is highly recommended that the pen be tested in a certified laboratory and be made improvements, if necessary, accounting for the lab results. The tests made thus far (in a non-certified laboratory) show that is disinfects a glass of water in 10 min after a 20 sec treatment with the silver pen.
