Please provide a short description of the state-of-the-art and/or current trends in the field? How does the result fit into it?

The laboratory tests aimed at detecting pollutants or may use methods based on the ability of a chemical reaction of a substance or the use of electronic instrumentation.

Currently, many laboratory procedures credited make use of electrodes, probes and sensors that, after calibration, provide a measurement of direct and continuous of the concentration of a certain number (increasing) of chemical species.

What is the problem/need/knowledge gap that the research result is responding to?  How was it addressed before?

In general, unlike the classical analytical procedures, in which the dosage of a concentration of a certain chemical species in many cases it is determined through the measure of a volume of reagent solution (whose value is recorded by the operator whocarries out the operation), the instrumental methods are based on known relationshipsbetween concentration and measurable properties through a suitable instrumentation.

What is the potential for further research?

The proposed solution for immediate identification of the occurrence of possible waterpollution is an innovative technology platform, interfacing to wireless sensor networks forremote monitoring in a distributed, continuous, surface water and the collection of samples of ‘water for subsequent analysis in the laboratory.
In this perspective, the goal to reach is actually twofold: on one hand, the monitoring

The European patent could relate to the management system and the software designed for this purpose. The cost for the implementation of the path of the patent is about 10.000 €
