|1||Please provide a short description of the state-of-the-art and/or current trends in the field? How does the result fit into it?
|Most homes located in isolated areas, meteorological stations, telephony relays etc. are placed far from the electric network. In this context, the necessary electric energy must be generated locally by using diesel generators or gasoline, and the costs are enough high.
The use of sun energy combined with wind energy represents a very efficient alternative, especially if in the system structure there are integrated accumulators, too.
The systems for generating electric energy which use combined sources have been mounted throughout the world, particularly in isolated areas.
The hybrid system for generating electric energy has been achieved mainly with the purpose of supplying the lightning in the courtyard of ICMET Craiova. As secondary objective, its commissioning as pilot power system for opening new opportunities for research, acquiring new knowledge for designing in an up-to-date field was achieved.
|2||What is the problem/need/knowledge gap that the research result is responding to? How was it addressed before?
|The use of alternative ecological technologies for assuring the energy needs of the modern society is an important concern at the level of European Union, also a strategic issue of each country, motivated by the limited access to classical energy resources (oil and coal) which pollute widely and are in course of depletion.
The wind generators used in combination with photovoltaic panels are a real, reliable and feasible alternative for housing supply, in telecommunications and generally in locations which are far from the national power grid.
|3||What is the potential for further research?
|The system for electric energy generation is a functional variant of a hybrid system for electric energy generation having as source the wind and the sun. Such hybrid systems for energy generation can be implemented by using the hydro energy or power units depending on the availabilities of the location zone, or they can be dimensioned depending on the power necessary to consumers.

|The functional model could be the object of a patent.

|The steps that need to be taken for ensuring the intellectual property rights are:

|6||What is you overall assessment of the scientific maturity of the research result?
|The hybrid system technology covers mainly autonomous systems, also isolated networks with short or average covering.
The hybrid system contains an AC (or DC) distribution system, loads, renewable energy sources, electric storage systems, energy converters, options for load management or a monitoring and control system.
The degree of scientific maturity depends firstly on the evolution of the component equipment, on the increase of the energy conversion efficiency.
