PART B: VALORISATION PLAN
SECTION I: ESTIMATION OF COSTS
1 |
Taking into account the rest of the cost evaluation please provide an overall estimation of the total costs for full deployment/production of the R & D result. |
… in terms of IPR protection
The patent has not yet been registered, but the methodology should be protected.Costs can be considered not relevant.
|
|
…in terms of product development
The control logic has to be tested on a robot arm to be provided. The testing would be performed at the premises of a welding organization, not at the Laboratory premises. An estimation of costs has not yet been provided, but it should not be relevant.

SECTION 2: QUALITATIVE FACTORS
3 |
Dimension of identified target groups |
The main target group is represented by industries using welding machines. This can enlarge the application possibilities to different sectors, i.e. naval plates, vehicles, metal carpentry, pressure vessels, etc. |
4 |
Evaluation of financial Risks for R&D result |
No particular financial risks to be underlined for R&D result. An investment for the engineering is needed, but it could be provided by a good industrial partner. |
SECTION 3: IDENTIFICATION OF FINANCING SOURCES
After evaluating all the above mentioned criteria, please tick the best financing source for the achievement of R&D result (i.e. own capitals, banking credits, venture capital, business angels, etc)
1. European Funding Define relevance of the product with the following potential funding sources and comment |
1. FP7 – ICT and Security work programmes to be explored with attention to Cooperation calls http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/security/home_en.html http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/ict/
http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/capacities/research-sme_en.html For further develop the Research, the two above mentioned EU programmes can be addressed. Next Calls are expected to be opened in July 2012. It is suggested to monitor also the CIP programme, more focused on SMEs then Research, in which the participation of SMEs is well encouraged in all the activities http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/cip_en.html

|
4. Other |
For the product engineering, the collaboration with an industrial partner is recommended.
|
SECTION 3: FINAL EVALUATION
It is requested a final evaluation considering the funding opportunities you believe most suitable for the exploitation of the R&D result, considering the possibility of the creation of a spin-off, further research, in particular, a cost/benefit analysis and a financial projection for the R&D result, type of collaboration identified (i.e. Licensing Agreement, Technical Cooperation, Joint Venture, Manufacturing Agreement, Commercial Agreement with Technical Assistance, Creation of a spin-off, Joint further development)… |
A specific product has not yet been developed, there is the idea but a testing is required. |
A first contact with the Welding Italian Association has been started for a collaboration in a EU project. The present software should be proposed to the Association to evaluate a possible interest in further development.
The adaptability of the methodology to the different possible requests and different sectors is an important characteristic but not enough to prove the real potential.
The R&D result at this stage needs still some revisions.
Decision of evaluation (Please keep only the appropriate)
- The R&D has a high potential of exploitation
- The R&D result needs minor revisions
- The R&D result needs moderate revisions
- The R&D result needs major revisions
- The R&D result has no potential of exploitation
