Durum wheat is the most widely cultivated cereal in the South and East Mediterranean basin and Italy is one of the major producers.
Sustainability in cultivation of this crop is absolutely required in EU in order to achieve high yield and quality together with preservation of the environment and lowering the costs. Among the agronomic practices, soil and nitrogen management play the major role in determining yield, quality and they have a strong impact on environment.
The present project is going to define the suitable nitrogen management in conservation and conventional systems as well as the suitable soil management, in order to maximize yield, quality and minimizing the environmental impact.
